Toowoomba Deli & Meats Restaurant

Toowoomba Deli & Meats

Spot this shop after 30 hours of fasting for the World Vision 30 hours famine camp. Since all of us were hungry, we decided to eat in this place although we broke fast an hour ago. Just a little celebration.

The ambiance in this restaurant was pretty good and it was rather quiet. I guess it could be due to the fact that it was the fasting season. As we go through the menu, great range of cuts from the best wagyu cuts to the normal descent ones. They also have burgers, for those who does not like steaks and light meals like pasta, salads and side orders like fries.

The fish an chips.
This was not really the WOW dish in terms of taste but fair pretty well in it presentation. The fish was not fresh as I suppose they must have used the frozen white fish fillet (the local version in Malaysia- catfish). If this dish was made in Australia, I suppose the quality of the fish would have been better.

The grilled chicken chop.
Beautiful yet simple presentation. The chicken was grilled to perfection. However, the mashed potatoes was served cold. That was seriously a let down. The salad was very basic but accompanied with a wonderful sauce. The sauce was very salsa like with a light touch of sourness with a peculiar berry flavour. I am still wondering the berry flavour could be either strawberries or cranberries..? The sauce made the whole salad so fresh and made me ask for more.

The all time favourite - Mixed Grill
This consist of lamb, tenderloin and chicken chop. The presentation wise was as good as the grilled chicken chop. As the side dishes was similar to the above dishes, mashed potatoes was indeed a disappointment as it was not served warm and the green salad was amazing. I am definitely going to learn the trick for the salsa sauce. Okay, moving to the cuts, the chicken was grilled to perfection. The done-ness beef and lamb was suppose to be medium but it was already medium well. As for the taste, it was just fairly fine and was not the best that I have tasted.

For those who are interested to try out this restaurant, it is in Platinum Mondrian Setapak, walking distances from KL Festival.
